The Universidad de Santiago de Chile is a state-run public institution of higher education that is autonomous and heir to a century-long tradition of progress in the country.

The mission of the university is to create conditions and opportunities for future generations to take charge of the advancement of knowledge, its transfer and feedback for the growth and development of the country in a global society.
